The U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals has put on hold US District Judge Vaughn Walker’s ruling earlier this month that would have opened the door to same-sex marriage in California this week. The Ninth Circuit will now review the case, which will almost certainly end up in the US Supreme Court. A final resolution could be years away. Advocates of traditional marriage have complained that Judge Walker’s handling of the case betrayed a deep bias in favor of same-sex marriage.
