House Passes DREAM Act, On Hold in the Senate

December 9, 2010

The US House of Representatives passed a version the of the DREAM Act Wednesday, which would legalize the status of children of illegal immigrants for 5 years if they arrived in the US before turning 16, have lived here for five years or more, and have a high school degree or its equivalent.  The Senate has put the legislation on hold but Senate leaders insist that a vote on the legislation will be scheduled before the year is out.
